Random Reader Giveaway: mixtapezine

I'm so happy to announce our very first random reader giveaway...
First of all, a big thank you to our giveaway sponsor mixtape for providing the best prize EVER!
>> What can I win?...

One very lucky Heart Handmade reader will win not one, but ALL FOUR mixtapezine issues!!!

mixtapezine is a quarterly zine that's about "making time for the small things". It also just recently celebrated its 1st year anniversary! Congratulations to Nichola and Justine, the creators and founders of mixtape. mixtapezine is a collision of craft, eco-cool and pop culture kitsch: 10 ways to green with kids, growing your craft business ethically, book/music reviews, crafty lady profiles are just some of the features you'll find in the zine. Oh and the covers are designed by Shannon Lamden, Annie Galvin, Angela of sewyourown.com, and Lisa Congdon!

>> So how do I win?...

**Thank you for participating, this giveaway is now closed!! The lucky winner will be announced on Friday May 30th 9am EST** (5/29)

OK so back to the giveaway. All you need to do is leave a comment answering the question below by Thursday the 29th, 10pm (EST). Then, I'll draw a random (lucky) winner and announce the name on Friday morning.

Question: Are you a frequent reader of zines? If yes, how often and which ones? Good luck!!

yep, I read Croqzine regularly.

I also read Croq zine and have been tempted to try Worn (houseofworn.etsy.com) and What Did You Buy Today? (kateconsumption.etsy.com)

I've never read it but it sounds interesting!

yep, i've been reading zines for several years now. i tend to gravitate towards perzines; brainscan is one of my favorites.

No, I'm not a regular reader but this sounds like one I'd like to check out.

Hi,
I don't read any ezines regularly but love the idea so please count me in. I live in the UK so hope that doesn't disqualify me.

Oh I'm a total craft zine addict! I read:
Fight Boredom
Guerilla Craftfare
Croq
D is for DIY (kids craft zine)
Mixtape
and my own one, Hoop-la
all of the above can be found on etsy.

And I just bought the book of the 10 year anthology of Doris and it's simply amazing.

I'm not really a zine reader per se, but I do enjoy mixtape, the occasional Notebook, Craft and Inside Out. I'm missing a couple of mixtape editions though so would love these!

Nope, but I'm about to be. Mixtape and Croq, here I come!

I haven't read many zines for years but I used to find out about them from Sassy magazine...

ikkinlala said...

No. I'm an infrequent reader of zines (I don't think I've read more than two issues of any zine). But I do enjoy them when I have a chance to read them.

Mary said...

I've never read a zine before, but I'm willing to try some if I get randomly picked!

I have only just started reading zines - funnily enough reading Mixtape. i have seen a few others around which i really like the look of. but for anything from overseas the international postage costs can sometimes dampen my enthusiasm.

i would love to create my own, but i think i might start out with what others are doing before i launch off into zine-world.

i do read some craft magazines, but most are already very expensive to buy from here in the philippines. so i usually just buy the back issues, usually a year older and much cheaper too. i love japanese craft magazines too, thick with freebies inside. :)

I'm not a regular zine reader yet, but it sounds like I have a lot of interesting things to explore...

i don't read zines too much anymore, though i used to be an avid reader of cometbus. i know that shari (of theglassdoorknob.blogspot.com) is working on a rock zine (not music) that i'm excited for.

No I have only just discovered the term zine through reading about the creation of mixtape. Would love to win the set to be able to read them.

I always mean to read more zines! I do pick up a local free zine, Businesswoman Diaries, whenever I can find it. It's hilarious!

Just found you and Mixtape zine while looking for cool places to visit while in Melbourne. I've read zines at the Wellington Public Library but having found you think I could have a new addiction developing...can't wait!

I've read zines before but mixtape was my first crafting one. I love that they give anyone an accessible outlet to voice their opinions.

I read zines sporadically. When I run across one that looks interesting, I'll get it. Mixtape looks interesting. :)

I read zines! And I make them too (you can find mine here in the zine section of my etsy shop

The most recent zines i've read are by Katie from the La-La Theory, I LOVE her zines.

I just ordered the first issue of mixtape zine, so at least I will be able to console myself with that if I don't win this giveaway...

Mix Tape Zine is my first Zine, and I have all 4 already, but I would love to win a set for my sister who is also a craft lady and would really enjoy them.

I am not a regular zine reader... but I look at them quite a bit and ponder purchasing. Especially mixtape and croq... I wish I could just take a peek!

Unfortunately I haven't had much time to read zines, but I have come across some US craft zines before, and bought them despite their pricyness. =P They're awesome, inspiring and great eye-candy.

I read mixtapezine! I have issues 2 and 3, I adore them! I'd love to win/aquire all four, and I could give away some of them and spread the love... And hope they become as enarmoured and ready to jump up and make my own soap and youghurt and all those yummy eco-cool things that I've become! I (heart) mixtapezine.

I have never read a zine! I am a librarian and a blog addict... so this just seems wrong. Hopefully the winds are about to change.

I haven't read a zine since I lived w/ my parents. That was back when I could spend my money on things that weren't gas, food, etc :p

Hello! The mixtape zine is the first I've heard of and I'm very excited to read it! I am a BIG magazine reader though, and have many subscriptions. I love them for all the different blurbs of information.

Thanks for offering up this contest!

I'm not yet, but now I will be! I'm pretty addicted to the many craft blogs on my RSS feed reader though, if that counts.
