Confessions of a Soapaholic

Category: Facial Scrub
I'm addicted to: Microblast Facial Scrub(Bittersweet scent)Microdermabrasion with shea butter, alpha hydroxy acids, renew old skin cells by SkinJourney
Purpose: Gently exfoliates dead skin cells from facial tissue.

Benefits: Enhances the skin appearance and texture. I am used to washing my face with regular soap and sometimes investing on a facial foam/cream cleanser. I never stick to those because the feeling and result I get are the same as to when I use a regular bar of soap. Feels clean but super tight, like the feeling of dry egg yolk smeared on your face. Allow me to explain...it's tradition in Brazil amongst kids to throw raw eggs and flour on the birthday person. Hence my familiarity with egg yolks. With Skin Journey's microblast facial scrub I can feel my skin moisturizing immediately as I gently scrub my face. There are tiny micro exfoliating agents that scrub away all the dead skin cells and as a result, my skin feels smooth as baby. The dry skin feeling that always happens right after I rinse the soap off my face is no where to be found. Instead, my skin feels extremely soft protected with a coat of moisture. The skin glow result is quite extraordinary. I noticed it with just one use!

Confessions of a Soapaholic

Category: Perfume
I'm addicted to: Custom Perfume by Loreto
Purpose: Design your own unique perfume.

Benefits: How fun and amazing is it that you can 'design' your own perfume?! It's like cooking with your favorite ingredients. I didn't go too far away from my favorite scent: gardenia - which I chose as the dominant scent. You can chose up to five scents (Loreto offers a long list of options!). Don't know if it's because it was my first time, but I stayed on the safe side and chose fig, jasmine, honeysuckle and freesia as the other four. The results were as expected, very floral and the gardenia was obviously prominent - it was quite hard to notice the other scents. Next time I'll be more adventurous. You have the option of concentrated perfume, eau de toilette and massage/bath oil.

Confessions of a Soapaholic

One of my biggest pet-peeves: dry hands and hosiery-damaging cuticles. How many times have I had to change my stockings because of that? Plenty, to talk about it here...

I try hard to keep my hands + nails presentable... but when dealing with paint, clays, cleaning supplies... it's not very easy. I have tried many many hand salves with not much success. It either does not do the job, or something about it keeps me from using it daily.

For example: packaging. There was one hand salve that I actually liked, but the packaging did not adjust to it's life in my roller coaster of a hand bag. Squeezing it was like watching a fast forward video of a chia pet!

Finally, for my hand's + hosiery's sake I came across Sugarwood Naturals Farmers Hand Salve.

It is quite thick but it rapidly melts in your hands, releasing a very pleasant aroma of eucalyptus. Immediately, my dry cuticles turn soft and the dryness of my hands: old news. Most importantly, your hands will not feel greasy like most thick salves. It dries off pretty quickly leaving your hands soft and subtly scented.

The salve comes packed in a sturdy metal tin - you won't be finding a chia pet growing in your bag.

My "farmer hands" are happy.
