Justin

>>
Who:
Justin
Girlfriend: Jena Coray, owner and writer of Modish

>> When I met Jena... We met at Patagonia in Reno where we both worked, making eyes at each other. Been together over 4 years now!

+ I ride my bike everyday.
+ I ride my skateboard occasionally.
+ I love my pre-'65 Beatles.
+ I love any black & white Samurai film.
+ I eat a lot of cookies.

Be prepared to be swept off your feet! This one is a sweetie...

1. What would you say are the three most important things that you do to support Jena in her creative/blogging endeavors?

“...anytime I can get dinner, breakfast, snacks or anything to make her life a little less hectic, I'm glad to do it.”

I listen to any problems she may be having with writing, ideas or design issues. Basically anything she feels she needs to get off her chest, I'm here with open ears. Also anytime I can get dinner, breakfast, snacks or anything to make her life a little less hectic, I'm glad to do it. I guess that's basically 'cause I love the girl and want her to be able to pursue what she's most passionate about. Let me not forget the most important thing of all, I always get that coffee started in the morning to make it a little easier for those motor-neurons to start moving in that brilliant head of hers.

2. Describe what it's like supporting a loved one's passion (who works from home all day) when you're working a "normal" 9-5 job that you may not necessarily be passionately in love with?

It's not easy, but I know she would do the same for me if the opportunity arose. Darn it, she beat me to it!

3. Living with someone who works long and irregular hours can be tough... from missed dinners to not being able to do simple things like relaxing and watching your favorite shows together as often as you'd like... How do you stop the craziness from impacting your relationship? Can you please offer some survival tips for those similar situations?

“You just have to find the positive in the situation and know that your sweetie-cakes is just in another part of the house...”

Yeah, it definitely makes it interesting. We don't always get to eat meals at the same time, or in the same room for that matter. And I've gotten used to the fact that I just might have to watch a movie by myself, but that gives me a chance to catch up on my Samurai movie obsession! You just have to find the positive in the situation and know that your sweetie-cakes is just in another part of the house, wishing she was cuddling on the couch watching the movie with you and eating way too much ice-cream! Oh yeah, and I think the Beatles said it best, "all you need is love...love. Love is all you need."

4. What was the strangest thing you've done to support Jena in what she does?

Well, there was the time I had to go to the store for a pencil and there was an electrical storm that day. The store was across town, but I couldn't take the car 'cause all the tires were off it at the time, and it's a serious no-no to head out into lightning and not be grounded in the car. So I headed out on foot, only I had a limp because of an incident at the fire-walking-limbo-contest the night before...I don't want to bore you with all the details, so to make a long story short, I never got the pencil. And in fact, none of that actually ever happened. There simply hasn't been anything that out of the ordinary or out of the question. So far. Updates to follow.

5. Finally, what is the easiest and hardest thing about being Jena's other half?

“It's my job to make my sweetie the happiest, most fulfilled sweetie on this planet.”

The easiest thing is knowing that all the love and support I give her comes right back to me. She's the greatest at showing her thankfulness for everything I help her out with and extremely apologetic when we don't get that much needed time together. I couldn't ask for a more perfect partner in this here life. Now for the hardest thing... it's wishing I could do more for her. Sounds funny, huh? I just don't want her to ever stress or go without. It's my job to make my sweetie the happiest, most fulfilled sweetie on this planet. I'm-uh tryin'.

6. Lastly, please choose one to three of your personal favorite posts on Modish or other projects that Jena has been a part of.

“I'll always be her #1 fan.”

I love everything she's ever made, from her jewelry to her Christmas ornaments. And I love her photographs, check out her flickr page, you'll see! But of course the thing that she's best at is my favorite- every word she's ever put on paper or screen is enough to make you cry with tears of joy, sorrow or straight amazement. I love seeing her in her words, so I have to say I like her more personal posts better then the product posts. I'm glad to see her showing herself off more in her words on Modish and on her other blog, Bone & Branch. I'll always be her #1 fan.

Thanks Justin!!
